Shamong EMS to offer free community CPR program

The program will cover adult, child and pediatric CPR including AED use, rescue breathing and what to do when someone is choking.

Shamong EMS is offering an American Heart Association CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) class at the squad building, 48 Willow Grove Rd., on June 8 starting at 7 p.m to 10 p.m.

The program will cover adult, child and pediatric CPR including AED use, rescue breathing and what to do when someone is choking.

The course is being offered free of charge to residents to learn the skills needed in a cardiac or choking emergency, though donations are appreciated, according to the department.

Residents can also obtain a course completion card for a $50 fee through the AHA.

Space is limited in order to maintain a good student-to-instructor ratio.
