According to petitions submitted to the Cherry Hill Township Municipal Clerk’s Office, two candidates will run for the Democratic nomination for mayor in this year’s primary and six candidates will run for three Democratic council nominations spots.

Running for mayor in the Democratic primary is Susan Shin Angulo under the Cherry Hill Democrats ticket. She will be opposed by Susan Druckenbrod, who is running under the Democrats of Camden County slogan. In late March, Mayor Chuck Cahn announced he would not be running for a third term in office.

The contested Democratic primary for council features six candidates running for three seats. Councilman Brian Bauerle will be running alongside newcomers Michelle Golkow and Jennifer Apell. Opposing them from the Democrats of Camden County are Scott Soffen, JiYoung Min and Nate DeMarino.

The Republican Party’s primary for mayor and council will not be contested. Nancy O’Dowd was the lone candidate to enter the Republican primary for the mayor’s race. Entering the council race on the Republican side are Joshua Duvall, Steven Lever and Mary Ellen Litton.

The 2019 primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4. Check back with www.cherryhillsun.com for more 2019 election coverage.
