Monroe Township emergency systems to receive upgrades

Upgrades set for emergency response teams, EMS

The Monroe Township Emergency Services will receive a major upgrade per resolutions at the last council meeting.

The first, adopted May 29, awards a contract for up to six certified contractors for emergency service work within the township. It will award contracts to perform emergency service work in Monroe Township in the event of an emergency that could expose the general public to health, safety and welfare issues.

Despite having six applicants, only four were chosen for contracts — Advanced Restoration Group in Pitman, Rahn Contracting, LLC in Blackwood, 5 Star Property Maintenance and Landscaping LLC in Williamstown and Papson Landscape, LLC in Williamstown.

The other resolution involving emergency services awarded a bid to the Stryker Sales Corporation for services associated with the purchase of four ambulance power-load systems and cots (stretchers) and also was adopted on May 29. This resolution allows the purchase of four new ambulance power-load cots from Stryker Sales Corporation for $222,657.56 which will be paid over five years at $3,710.95 per month. Business Administrator Kevin Heydel and Chief Financial Officer Karyn Paccione reviewed the bid and determined sufficient funds are available to approve the purchase.

Chief of Monroe Township EMS Brandon Dimter was excited about the upgrades.

“We are very excited for the upgrade to our department with the power-load stretchers,” he said. “We know this will assist us in further providing our residents the best possible patient care. We are extremely appreciative of Monroe Township in assisting us in moving forward with our jobs as EMS providers.”

The next council meeting will take place on June 25.
