Virtua Breast Health gets a boost

The O’Brien sisters from The Tyanna Foundation presented Virtua Foundation with a check for more than $20,000 to support the Virtua Breast Health Fund last week.

The Breast Health Fund provides breast cancer patients with wigs, transportation to treatment, assistance with medications and other items and services that help to provide the highest level of comfort to patients in need.

“We are incredibly grateful for the partnership The O’Brien sisters have created to generate meaningful funds that have a direct impact on the families we serve in this community, said Rose McManus Coleman, vice president, Virtua Foundation.

The Tyanna Foundation was formed by the O’Brien sisters in 1998 to honor their mother, Tyanna Barre O’Brien, who lost her battle with breast cancer at age 48. Each year the organization holds BreastFest events in five states to increase awareness and raise money for breast cancer research, services, education, treatment and patient care. The first BreastFest event was held in 1999.

The money donated to Virtua Foundation was raised during the 2011 BreastFest event, held at the TapRoom and Grill in Haddon Township on May 14, 2011. This year’s BreastFest will be held on Saturday, June 9 at the TapRoom from 3 to 9 p.m.
