Al Rodewalt, 85, received a surprise from three musicians — vocalist and drummer Paul Jost, pianist and Rowan University faculty member, Dean Schneider, and bassist Kevin MacConnell. Earlier in the summer, the group performed in Rodewalt’s home for an entire afternoon.
Rodewalt has a masters degree in piano from Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music. He currently suffers from a cervical spine injury due to a fall four years ago.
As a thank you for the surprise performance, Rodewalt backed a recording session for the group in his living room on his birthday on July 22.
