Eastern alumni are being welcomed back to see old friends and reconnect with the school and community while raising money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
September is the start of a new school year and also National Childhood Cancers Awareness Month. It is a time when children and teenagers may feel excited or anxious about what teachers they will have or what friends will be in their class. Unfortunately, for pediatric cancer patients, September may mark a time of continued treatments, hospital stays and doctor appointments.
The Eastern High School Alumni Association wants to help more children and teenagers move away from cancer and get to their high school graduations and reunions. In that spirit, the Association is calling on all Eastern alumni to come back to the school for a unique family-friendly reunion where they can relive their glory days of high school. On Sunday, Sept. 16 at 9 a.m., the Glory Days 5K will take place at Eastern with all proceeds benefitting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
Eastern alumni, Ali Gorman of Action News and Adam Taliaferro, inspirational former Penn State football player, will be on hand to give opening remarks at the run.The run starts and ends with a lap around the Eastern track. The event is open to everyone, not just Eastern alumni. Members of the community are welcome to participate in the run and can make it a reunion of their own with friends and family looking to come together to help fight pediatric cancer.
