TABERNACLE TOWNSHIP: McGuire/Fort Dix/Lakehurst may produce shaking

Army National Guard, Marine Reserve units to conduct range training Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst — Four units comprising both Guard and Reserve service members are scheduled to conduct mortar-firing training at the Dix ranges between April 13–14.

Training is slated to occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Units conducting training include three National Guard units from Westfield, N.J., New Haven, Conn., Long Island, N.Y., and a Marine Corps reserve unit from West Palm Beach, Fla.

This training is essential and helps to ensure the readiness of America’s fighting force.

As a result of these units performing their important training, residents may hear more noise than usual coming from the ranges and may experience possible ground shaking.

It is important to note that noise from the ranges may travel farther during overcast weather conditions.

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst works hard to minimize the impact training has on its surrounding communities and is committed to remaining good neighbors.
