Group will maintain offices in Sicklerville, Willingboro, Egg Harbor Township, Camden
In a move that will expand surgical services, the 12-member Surgical Group of South Jersey recently joined Cooper University Health Care.
“The Surgical Specialties Institute at Cooper has grown to become one of the largest surgical programs in the region,” said Adrienne Kirby, president and CEO of Cooper University Health Care. “We welcome the Surgical Group of South Jersey to our growing team of surgical experts dedicated to providing the highest quality surgical care and an exceptional health care experience for our patients and their families.”
Since 2012, Cooper’s Surgical Specialties Institute, which offers specialties in trauma, vascular, breast, urological, bariatric, orthopaedic, ENT, and general surgery, among others, has experienced significant growth. In 2016, surgeons at Cooper performed 20,067 surgeries, representing more than an eight percent growth over the prior year. The addition of the Surgical Group of South Jersey surgeons will help meet growing patient demand for Cooper’s high quality surgical services.
In 2016, Cooper also opened four new, state-of-the-art surgical suites on its Camden campus. Additional surgical suites are in the planning stages or under construction. For the convenience of patients, Cooper also maintains an outpatient surgical center on its Voorhees campus.
The Surgical Group of South Jersey, which has been providing quality surgical care to patients in the region since its inception in 1935, includes:
• Colorectal Surgeons: Dr. Miguel Deleon and Dr. William C. Cody
• Cardiothoracic Surgeons: Dr. Joseph Kuchler and Dr. Pasquale Luciano
• Thoracic Surgeons: Dr. Christopher Derivaux, Dr. Duane Monteith, Dr. Jay Steinberg, and Dr. Christopher Bariana
• Vascular Surgeons: Dr. Constantine T. Andrew, Dr. Yury Bak, Dr. Joseph P. Costabile, and Dr. Charles K. Field
“The Surgical Group of South Jersey was founded by Dr. Paul McCray, while at Cooper, and many of us have trained or practiced at Cooper, so we see this as sort of a homecoming. We look forward to joining Cooper and continuing to provide quality surgical care to the local communities we have served for more than 60 years,” said Constantine T. Andrew, MD, of the Surgical Group of South Jersey.
The surgical group, which previously practiced with Virtua, will maintain offices in Sicklerville, Willingboro, Egg Harbor Township, and Camden.
