Winslow Township seeks animal control officer

Applications now being accepted for full-time position

Winslow Township seeks a full-time animal control officer; animal cruelty investigator is preferred. Applicants must be a resident of Winslow Township. Employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background check. Salary is $22.38 per hour. Benefits are available after a 90-day working test period. Winslow Township is an equal opportunity employer.

Duties include: Respond to all stray/feral domestic cats and dogs. Respond to domestic and wild animals that have been struck by vehicles. Transport contained stray animals to the shelter. Respond to calls of horses, goats, pigs, etc. loose on the roads. Calls of abuse and/or neglect including emergency calls are all investigated by the ACOs. Assist SPCA when they are in the area working on a case. Respond to all animal bite calls. Represents Winslow Township in all court matters involving municipal ordinance violations pertaining to animals or animal cruelty charges. Enforces the municipal ordinances for dog and cat licensing. Secure and shelter animals that are abandoned due to neglect.

Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with animal control officers, shelter managers, volunteers, rescue groups, humane societies, veterinarians, and law enforcement agencies. He or she must take adequate safety precautions while working in the field and able to assess the situation and act quickly to remedy the situation. The ACO may have to confiscate the animal and coordinate with local law enforcement offices to make an arrest in the case.
