The Gloucester County Animal Shelter will waive adoption fees for older dogs, reduce fees for younger dogs
In honor of October as Adopt a Shelter Dog month, the Gloucester County Animal Shelter will waive adoption fees at the shelter for dogs six years and older and reduce fees for younger dogs and puppies to $35.00.
Adoption fees include spaying or neutering at the new clinic, among other veterinary services. The shelter currently has four dogs over the age of six, and four younger dogs available for adoption.
“Adoption from the Gloucester County Animal Shelter is typically much less expensive than adopting from a private source,” Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said. “Our free and reduced adoption fees for dogs in October also includes spaying or neutering, vaccines, microchipping and more. It’s a great incentive to adopt a new dog as part of your family..”
“We can think of no better way to celebrate Adopt a Shelter Dog month then by doing as much as we can to find animals good homes,” Freeholder Dan Christy, liaison to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter said. “We hope that by waiving the fees on on older dogs we can increase our adoption rates and get more animals into loving homes.”
Applications must be pre-approved in order to be eligible to receive a free dog. Click here to get a pre-adoption application, or go to www.gloucestercountynj.gov and click on the paw print to fill out an application. For more information, call (856) 881–2828, ext. 1.
The regular fees for dogs is $125. There is a discounted $35 fee for senior citizens and military veterans.
