Burlington County Library System ‘Sundays on Stage’ spring performances to begin Feb. 11

Locals can attend these one-hour, culturally diverse performances for free at the Burlington County Library Auditorium in Westampton.

The Burlington County Library System has announced that the 2018 spring schedule for “Sundays on Stage,” — a series of one-hour, culturally diverse afternoon performances presented live in the Burlington County Library Auditorium in Westampton.

The schedule kicks off Feb. 11 with “The Dance of Romance” presented by the Divine Hand Ensemble, followed by eight additional performances for audiences. All shows begin at 2 p.m. and admission is free.

Officials say the library’s stage performances are held each year in the spring and again in the fall in an effort to bring a wide selection of culturally enriching entertainment to the residents of Burlington County.

According to officials, the shows are chosen to reflect the BCLS mission to enrich lives by providing opportunities for learning, growth and personal development.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, since seating is limited. Doors open at 1:40 p.m.

Performances are as follows:

· February 11 — Divine Hand Ensemble presents “The Dance of Romance”: An afternoon of romantic music and dance. Enjoy the tango, waltz and other classic steps accompanied by the violins, harps, cello, guitar, percussion and Theremin, the world’s first electronic instrument and the only instrument played without touching. · February 18 — Follow the Drinking Gourd presents “Take the A Train”: The show features the music of Eubie Blake, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, and other composers who hit their stride during Harlem’s arts explosion of the ’20s and ’30s. · February 25 — A Tribute to Sarah Vaughan: Join for this tribute to the famed jazz singer performed by acclaimed vocalist Beverly Owens and pianist Diane Goldsmith. Learn more at dianegoldsmith.com

· March 4 — Divine Hand Ensemble presents “Magic and Illusions”: Mano Davina heads up this performance of music, magic, and wonder! Backed by the beautiful sounds of the eight-piece Divine Hand Ensemble, Mike the Magician and a special illusionist might have audience members question everything they see. · March 11 — Charlie Zahm: Join singer/guitarist Charlie Zahm along with some of his closest friends and dancers from the Campbell School of Highland Dance for an performance of Celtic classics. Learn more at charliezahm.com.

· March 18 — The Carolyn Hannan Trio: The Carolyn Hannan Trio tells stories, paints pictures, and draws a laugh or a tear performing the music of America, Ireland and Scotland. Learn more at carolynhannantrio.com.

· April 15 — Divine Hand Ensemble presents “Welcome Spring”: A choreographed show of ballets and timeless music. This show includes scenes from Swan Lake and other ballet classics accompanied by the eight-piece Divine Hand Ensemble. Learn more at divinehand.net.

· April 22 — Friction Farm: Modern-folk duo Aidan Quinn and Christine Stay combine storytelling, social commentary and humor to perform songs about everyday life, local heroes, and quirky observations. Learn more at frictionfarm.com.

· May 6 — Eco Del Sur: Formed to preserve the heritage and culture of different Latin American regions, Eco Del Sur performs a wide range of styles and rhythms influenced by Pre-Columbian and Spanish cultural heritages, including huayňo, sanjuanito, carnaval, chacarera, joropo, zamba, and cueca.
