Curtain Call Performing Arts Center to debut performance of Disney’s ‘Freaky Friday’ on Feb. 24

The show will also run on Feb. 25. “Freaky Friday” tells the story of a mother and daughter who magically swap bodies for 24 chaotic hours.

The Mt. Laurel-based Curtain Call Performing Arts Center will debut its production of Disney’s “Freaky Friday” on Feb. 24. The show will also run on Feb. 25.

Based on the Mary Rogers novel and two Disney films, Curtain Call officials say “Freaky Friday” tells the story of a mother and daughter who magically swap bodies for 24 chaotic hours.

By spending a day in each other’s shoes, the two come to appreciate one another’s struggles, learn self-acceptance and realize the immeasurable love and mutual respect that bond a mother and daughter.

According to Curtain Call, this stage version of the story will give a modern point of view to the themes of the novel and the films.

This performance of “Freaky Friday” is from a new book by Bridget Carpenter, which places the action squarely in the social media age, using a high school Instagram scavenger hunt as the dramatic thrust of the story.

Propelled by an pop-rock score by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winners Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, Curtain Call officials say “Freaky Friday” will deliver a crowd pleasing, family friendly musical with sharp wit and buoyant tunes.

Curtain Call Performing Arts Center is set to present “Freaky Friday” on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. and on Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. The performances will be held at Harrington Middle School’s theatre, 514 Mt. Laurel Road.

Tickets are being sold online at www.showtix4u.com and are $5 each, reserved seating. Tickets will also be available at the door beginning one hour prior to the start of each performance.

Curtain Call Performing Arts Center is an educational theatre organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of children through the performing arts. Curtain Call officials say the group is honored and proud to work with Disney Theatrical Group on this new theatrical title.
