Police respond to alarm at Verizon Wireless store

On Oct. 30 at 2:37 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to an alarm activation at the Verizon Wireless store on Route 73. Responding officers observed two suspects fleeing the scene in a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee and pursued the vehicle north on Route 73. The pursuit was terminated due to public safety concerns.

A short time later New Jersey State Police located the vehicle and suspects stopped on Route 38 near Interstate 295. They were unloading the proceeds from the burglary due to their car breaking down. The suspects fled the vehicle on foot when confronted by state police.

Mt. Laurel Police later received a call from a Stonegate resident who saw one of the suspects breaking into a vehicle on Biddle Way. He was subsequently arrested by Mt. Laurel Police and identified as a 25-year-old male of the 400 block of Hazelwood Terrace, Rochester, N.Y. Evidence was found linking him to the Verizon burglary.

The suspect was charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, possession of burglary tools, obstruction of justice, and hindering apprehension. Electronic equipment stolen from the Verizon store was valued in excess of $75,000 and was recovered by police. An investigation is ongoing to determine the identities of other suspects involved. He was lodged in Burlington County Jail in lieu of $127,500 bail.
