Theft, credit card fraud highlight Mt. Laurel police report

The following incidents were reported by the Mt. Laurel Police Department during the week of May 12.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 21-year-old male of the 1100 block of Route 73, on May 6 for being a New Jersey wanted person. He was wanted by Monmouth County for a probationary violation. He was taken into custody at a hotel on Route 73 and lodged at the Burlington County Jail pending a court hearing.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 31-year-old female of the 1600 block of Cunard Avenue, Woodbury, on May 9 for being a NJ Wanted Person. She was wanted by Gloucester County for failure to pay child support. She was found to be wanted subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 in the area of Fellowship Road. She was lodged at the Burlington County Work Release Center pending a court hearing.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 54-year-old female of the 5000 block of Dunbarton Road, on May 9 for shoplifting $104.95 in merchandise from TJ Max on Centerton Road. She was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

A resident of the 100 block of Hastings Way reported an attempted burglary to a residence. The incident occurred on May 9 at 11:30 p.m. An unidentified male subject attempted to force entry to the occupied residence by kicking the front door. The subject fled the scene when the resident yelled out.

A guest of Hotel ML on Route 73 reported a stolen vehicle. The incident occurred between 10:30 p.m. May 9 and 8:15 a.m. May 10. A 1997 Honda Civic, valued at $1,900, was taken from the front parking lot. An iPod, valued at $150, was also reported taken with the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered in Newark at 5 p.m. on May 11.

A member of LA Fitness on Dearborn Circle reported a theft from a vehicle. The incident occurred between 6:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., May 9. An iPhone 5 and several credit cards, valued at approximately $500, were taken. Following the theft, two of the credit cards were used to make approximately $3000 in unauthorized purchases at several area businesses. Entry was gained by using vehicle keys that were left in an unlocked gym locker.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 51-year-old male of the unit block of Pine Street, Mt. Holly, on May 10 for shoplifting $113 in merchandise from the Home Depot on Nixon Drive. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 30-year-old male of the 600 block of Cramer Avenue, Beverly on May 10 for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was stopped on Nixon Drive for a motor vehicle violation at 6:06 p.m. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

A resident of the first block of Bretton Way reported a burglary and theft to a residence. The incident occurred between 10:30 a.m., May 10 and 12:15 a.m., May 11. Entry was gained by forcing the rear window. Jewelry, valued at approximately $5,000, was taken.

A resident of the unit block of Stanwyck Road reported a theft from an unlocked vehicle. The incident occurred between 10 p.m., May 10, and 11 a.m., May 11. Sunglasses, valued at $120, were taken. Entry was gained through the unlocked driver’s side door.

An employee of Global Industries on Gaither Drive reported a theft. Truck tires, valued at $16,000, were removed from three box trucks while parked in the company parking lot. The incident occurred between 6 p.m., May 11, and 6 a.m., May 12.

A member of LA Fitness on Dearborn Circle reported a theft from an unlocked vehicle while parked in the side lot of the building. The incident occurred between 4:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., May 12. Two credit cards were taken and one was used to make a fraudulent purchase at a Target in Cherry Hill.

A resident of the 2100 block of Larchmont Place reported a credit card fraud. An unauthorized purchase, in the amount of $435, was made at a Walmart in Daphne, Alabama using the victim’s credit card number.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 45-year-old male of the 100 block of West Bluebell Lane, on May 13 for hindering his own apprehension. He was stopped in the area of Birchfield Drive and South Church Street for a motor vehicle violation at 8 p.m. He provided false information to police in an effort to avoid arrest on several outstanding warrants. He was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was charged with hindering his own apprehension for outstanding warrants, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged at the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 22-year-old male of the unit block of Ridgewood Place, Willingboro, on May 13 for possession of marijuana. Subsequent to police investigation, he was found to be in possession of marijuana under 50 grams at 2:48 p.m. in a parking lot on the 100 block of Gaither Drive. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

A resident of the unit block of Tulip Court reported a burglary and theft to a residence. The incident occurred on May 14, between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Entry was gained through an unlocked rear door. A laptop computer and an iPad, valued at approximately $2,800, were taken.

A resident of the unit block of Maple Glen Road reported a credit card fraud. A credit card company notified the resident of an attempted fraudulent transaction in Dubai in the amount of $4,500. No financial loss was reported. The incident occurred on May 15 at 11:30 a.m.

An employee of Bed Bath and Beyond on Centerton Road reported a shoplifting. The incident occurred on May 15 at 1:51 p.m. An identified female subject attempted to return an item they did not purchase and then left the store with the merchandise, valued at $119. The subject left the area prior to police arrival. Complaints are pending.
