The South Jersey Group IV Sectional title will reside at Lenape High School for another season.
The Lenape Indians defeated district rival Shawnee in front of a packed crowd at Lenape High School on Friday, Nov. 14 to clinch Lenape’s eighth consecutive sectional title.
The two teams played to a 0–0 draw for more than 76 minutes before senior standout Lizzie Kinkler scored the game winner with 3:40 remaining in regulation.
Marissa Topolski, also a senior, tallied the assist on Kinkler’s goal.
Kinkler, who is committed to play soccer at Wake Forest next fall, was one of several Lenape players who applied constant pressure on the Shawnee defense throughout the afternoon.
Alicia Hampton had nine saves for Lenape in the win.
