Fraud, DWI reports lead Mt. Laurel Police Blotter

The following information was reported by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

On June 16 at 1:30 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted an investigation into a suspicious vehicle at a hotel on Fellowship Road. During the investigation officers arrested a 37-year-old man from Keansburg after he was found in possession of MDMA “Molly” and a hypodermic needle. He was also wanted out of Middlesex County for drug offenses. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a hypodermic needle. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

On June 16 at 12:35 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a residence for a theft report. The victim reported that he responded to an email from a company called Travel Agency Settlement offering to pay him $400 for professional services. The company sent the victim a check for $1,750 and told him to cash it, keep $400, and then wire transfer the $1,350 difference to another individual. The victim cashed the check and wire transferred the money. Several days later the victim’s bank informed him the check was fraudulent. The investigation revealed that Travel Agency Settlement was a fictitious company.

On June 16 at 3:15 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the P.C. Richards store on Nixon Drive for a credit card fraud report. The investigation revealed a male and female entered the store and asked a sales person for two iPads. They presented a fictitious South Carolina driver’s license and fraudulent P.C. Richards credit card to make the purchase. When questioned by the employee the two grabbed the driver’s license and fled the store. They left the area in a white 2015 Chrysler 300 rental car with Tennessee license plates.

On June 16 at 5:50 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted an investigation into a suspicious vehicle parked with its engine running in the parking lot of 554 Fellowship Road. The driver appeared to be unconscious in the locked vehicle. After several attempts, an officer was able to wake the driver. The driver reversed his vehicle and crashed into a police car parked behind him causing minor damage. The driver, a 36-year-old man from Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was released pending a court hearing.

On June 18, a resident reported that her identity was stolen and used to open six credit card accounts, two cell phone accounts and purchase a wifi hotspot. The time frame is unknown.

On June 18 at 8:10 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to Target on Centerton Road for a shoplifting report. Officers arrested a 36-year-old woman from Burlington City for attempting to steal $577.85 worth of merchandise. She was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court hearing.

A resident on the 700 block of Amsterdam Road reported that during the overnight hours of June 18 into June 19 someone damaged a solar landscaping light in the front yard of his residence. Several plants valued at $50 were also taken.

On June 19 at 2:18 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to the 500 block of South Brentwood Drive for the report of a vehicle that had crashed into a pole. During the investigation officers arrested a 28-year-old man from Mt. Laurel. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing. No injuries were reported.

An employee of Laurel Creek Country Club reported that on June 20 between 4:30 and 6 p.m. someone smashed a window on her 2010 Honda CRV and stole her purse, which was on the floor of the front passenger seat area. The purse contained cash, credit cards, and an iPhone 5.
