Road rage incident leads to DWI arrest in this week’s Mt. Laurel Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

On Aug. 4 at 2:05 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 73 near Interstate-295. The investigation determined that two drivers were involved in a road rage incident that resulted in one of the drivers crashing into the other and then into the center median. The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash, a 53-year-old man from Evesham, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was released pending a court hearing.

On Aug. 5 at 4 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Route 73 for a disturbance. The investigation determined an unknown male suspect broke a window and attempted to gain entry to a hotel room. The occupants of the room were uncooperative with police therefore a motive for the incident could not be determined.

On July 21 at 8:20 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police attempted to stop a vehicle on Route 73 near the New Jersey Turnpike for a motor vehicle violation. The driver refused to stop, got onto the turnpike and fled the area. The officer did not pursue the vehicle. The driver was identified as a 23-year-old woman from Willingboro. On Aug. 5 at 10:25 a.m., she turned herself in at police headquarters. She was charged with eluding police and several motor vehicle violations and released pending a court hearing.

An employee of a business on East Gate Drive reported that someone put superglue in all of the locks of the exterior doors to the building sometime between July 31 and Aug. 3.

A resident on the 800 block of Browning Place reported someone stole a black and silver Diamondback mountain bike from in front of their residence on Aug. 4 between 8:30 and 11:15 p.m.

A member of the Larchmont Swim Club reported that his wallet was stolen from a bag while at the pool on Aug. 5 between 1 and 3 p.m.

On Aug. 5 at 8:35 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Fellowship Road for a narcotics complaint. The investigating officers arrested 29-year-old man from Cambria Heights, N.Y. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing.

On Aug. 6 at 1 a.m., a 43-year-old male victim reported he was walking on Diemer Drive near Crawford Place when an unknown male came up to him and asked him for a cigarette. For no apparent reason, the male then punched the victim in the face. The victim was able to knock the suspect to the ground. The victim then ran back to the hotel he was staying at. The suspect could not be located. The victim sustained a minor laceration to his face.

A victim reported that she accidentally left her cell phone at the front counter of a restaurant on Dearborn Circle on Aug. 6 at 9 p.m.. When she returned at 10 p.m. the phone was gone.

On Aug. 7 at 3:30 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Fellowship Road near Century Parkway. During the stop officers arrested a 39-year-old man from Philadelphia after he provided officers a false name in an attempt to avoid arrest on outstanding warrant. He was wanted by the Baltimore County Police Department in Maryland for drug charges. He was charged with being a fugitive from justice and hindering his own apprehension. Bail was set at $42,500 with no 10 percent option and he was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

On Aug. 7 at 11 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a burglar alarm at a business on Chestnut Avenue. The investigation revealed that someone attempted to force entry through a rear window. Entry was not gained.

On Aug. 7 at 2:15 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a residence on Laurel Lane after receiving a 911 call reporting an emergency at the residence. The investigation determined that there was no emergency. The caller had dialed 911 several times that day for different non-emergency issues and had been warned to stop. Officers arrested a 20-year-old man from Mt. Laurel for misuse of the 911 system. He was charged with false public alarms and released pending a court hearing.

On Aug. 7 at 2:25 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Union Mill Road near Walton Avenue. During the stop officers arrested a 68-year-old man from Mt. Laurel. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

On Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to Holly Cove for the report of individuals selling items door to door. During the investigation officers arrested a 25-year-old woman from Philadelphia after she provided a false name in an attempt to avoid a summons. She was charged with hindering her own apprehension and soliciting without a permit. She was released pending a court hearing.

A guest at a hotel on Fellowship Road reported that her wallet was stolen from her room on Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. She stated that she had just met the male suspect and invited him into her room when he stole her wallet and fled the hotel.

On Aug. 7 at 10:30 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near Briggs Road. During the stop officers arrested a 39-year-old woman from Daniels, W.V. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

A resident on Woodview Drive reported that a bicycle was stolen from the front yard on Aug. 8 between 6 and 6:20 p.m. The bicycle was described as a green and silver Schwinn woman’s mountain bike.
