Mt. Laurel Township asks residents to prepare for upcoming winter snow storm

Mt. Laurel Mayor Dennis Riley and acting township manager Meredith Tomczyk have released the following information.

According to Mt. Laurel Township, the snow event on Monday evening, March 13, into Tuesday, March 14, is currently predicted to bring 4 to 18 inches of snow.

The township said township officials (police, fire, EMS, public works, school district, Municipal Utilities Authority, and Office of Emergency Management) met today, March 13, to prepare for the upcoming storm.

According to the township, all updates will be posted on Facebook at Office of Emergency Management’s page at https://www.facebook.com/MountLaurelOEM, on Nixle and on twitter at @MLOEM36.

The township also said recycling and trash updates will be posted immediately on Mt. Laurel’s website at www.mountlaurel.com as they occur and also on the social media listed above.

According to the township, trash pick-up will be suspended on Tuesday, March, 14, and resume on Wednesday, March 15. Tuesday’s trash will be picked up on Wednesday, Wednesday’s trash will be picked up on Thursday and Thursday’s trash will be picked up on Friday.

According to the township, 30 plows have been added to Mt. Laurel Public Works vehicles and an additional 20 plows provided by contractors are available for Tuesday’s snow event.

The township asks all residents to ensure all vehicles and basketball hoops are removed from township right of way so plowing is not delayed.

The township asks that if residents do not have to travel they should stay off the roads.

According to the township, the websites and social media above will offer hourly updates during the storm.

Mt. Laurel Township said the township’s first update will be if or when the Governor declares a state of emergency.

In the event of any emergency, the township asks residents to dial 911. All emergency services will be operating normally. For any non-emergencies, call (856) 234–0001 ext. 1241.
