Gifted students at Hartford School wrote and illustrated their own children’s book this year
It was Vive la France for some sixth-grade students in the Gifted Academic Program at Hartford School this past school year as they collaborated to create their own French children’s book. Once finished, the students used an online company to print their work, creating enough copies for each student, with an additional 200 copies printed to send to needy children in French-speaking Haiti as a service project.
Mt. Laurel teen earns Girl Scout Gold Award by organizing walk for suicide prevention
Mt. Laurel teen Kyra Berry earned her Girl Scout Gold Award by organizing walk for suicide prevention last year. Now Berry is the bringing the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Out of the Darkness Walk to Mt. Laurel again on Oct. 21.
Members of Girl Scout Troop 22017 complete Silver Award project at Rancocas State Park
Members of Girl Scout Troop 22017 have been working on achieving their Silver Award Project. To earn the Silver Award, Scouts must identify an issue in the community and then develop and implement a service project that benefits the community. Scouts Emma Colucci, Kylie Patella, and Katie Troilo, decided on marking trails in Rancocas State Parkto help first responders navigate to an injured hiker and/or make the trails user friendly to those who want to enjoy the State park.
Mt. Laurel Historical Society continues open houses on second Sunday of each month this summer
The Mt. Laurel Historical Society has been holding multiple open house events this summer on the second Sunday of each month. Events are currently remaining in the schedule include open houses for Aug. 13 and Sept. 10 from 1 to 4 pm. at the historical Farmers Hall.
Burlington County Health Department offering free radon test kits to homeowners
Burlington County Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio has announced that that the Burlington County Health Department is offering free radon test kits to homeowners. Garganio said the Burlington County Health Department is working with The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to bring increased awareness to the public on the risks of radon.
