Mt. Laurel EMS to launch ‘Stop the Bleed’ campaign to provide free tourniquet training
Mt. Laurel EMS is now launching its second step in the Safest Community Initiative with its new “Stop the Bleed” campaign. This campaign will focus on training residents and employees of local businesses to apply tourniquets to control bleeding in the event of an emergency. Mt. Laurel EMS would hold its first class of the Stop the Bleed campaign on Nov. 14, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mt. Laurel EMS Headquarters, 201 Masonville-Centerton Road.
Burlington County awards Mt. Laurel funds in seventh round of Municipal Park Grants program
Burlington County Freeholder Linda Hughes, liaison to the County Department of Resource Conversation, has announced that the Board of Chosen Freeholders has awarded $4.98 million of park grants to municipalities during its public meeting this week. According to the county, Mt. Laurel is one of the town’s selected for an award, and the township will use the money fund rehabilitation of Devonshire Park with this year’s grant.
Lenape District Television seeks alumni for ‘Where Are They Now?’ interview show
Lenape District Television (LDTV) of the Lenape Regional High School District is looking for LRHSD alumni who are interested in sharing memories from their days in high school and updating the district on what they’ve been doing since graduation by being featuring on LDTV’s alumni interview show “Where Are They Now?” The program features graduates of Lenape, Shawnee, Cherokee and Seneca high schools who have attained a special level of recognition within their career field.
Lenape High School and other district schools to begin falls plays in November
The Lenape Regional High School District is promoting the upcoming fall performances of its students in drama programs throughout the district. Seneca High School students will perform “12 Angry Jurors” on Nov. 2, Nov. 3 and Nov. 4. Lenape High School students will perform “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” on Nov. 16 and Nov. 18. Cherokee High School students will perform “White Christmas”on Nov. 24, Nov. 25, Dec. 1 and Dec. 2. Shawnee High School students will perform “A Night of Comedy, Music (Not Really), and Ducks.” on Nov. 30, Dec. 1 and Dec. 2.
Burlington County talks impact and solutions to opioid abuse at Knock Out Opioid Abuse Town Hall
Burlington County residents and other officials gathered at Rowan College at Burlington County in Mt. Laurel last week as part of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey’s latest stop in the statewide “Knock Out Opioid Abuse” town hall series. Organized with the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, the event brought together Burlington County officials and medical experts to discuss what officials described as the opioid crisis gripping communities across the nation, including those within New Jersey.
