Is it too early to be thinking about summer youth programs? No! The Moorestown Parks and Recreation Department has wonderful summer programs for kids. These programs are very popular, reasonably priced and fill up quickly, so get your calendars out and sign up soon.
Summer Art Camp for kindergarten through fifth grades:
This year’s Art Camp will be out of this world. It starts Aug. 6 and ends Aug. 10. Camp will be held at the 3rd Floor Art Studio at the Church Street Recreation Center from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Artist in residence, Sophia Geiger, will be taking kids on an intergalactic voyage. Art Camp has five different stations that each child rotates through twice: 3-D sculpture, painting, drawing, arts and crafts and scientific experiment. This year’s space theme will yield all kinds of interesting things like robots, aliens, rockets and astronaut. The sky is not the limit- just the beginning.
“Four is Fun” and “Five is Fun-ner:”
These are comprehensive four and five year old programs for learning, exercising, being creative and having straight-up fun. It runs Mondays through Thursdays and begins Monday, June 25 through Thursda, July 26. It takes place at South Valley Elementary School at: 210 S. Stanwick Road from 8:45 a.m. to noon.
Each week will have a different theme that will integrate art projects, books, activities and learning letters and numbers. Time will fly by as youngsters learn, play and find new friends. Certified teachers will lead all activities and be assisted by a caring and compassionate staff to ensure the safety and enjoyment of your child.
Summer Parks Program:
For ages five to twelve, there will be a host of activities to make a memorable summer. This program runs from Monday through Friday, starting Monday June 25 through Friday July 27. Camp is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There are multiple locations: Mary E. Roberts School, George C. Baker Elementary School and the New Albany Road Recreation Center.
Kids will be ensured of fun, rain or shine, with sports, games and arts and crafts. There will also be opt-in field trips at additional costs.
