Local lawyer volunteers at 8th Grade Exit Assessment

Karen Rose Karpousis was a volunteer judge at WAMS on Friday, June 15.

Karen Rose Karpousis, a partner at the law firm of Charny Karpousis Altieri & Donoian, P.A., was a volunteer judge at this year’s William Allen Middle School (WAMS) 8th Grade Exit Assessment on Friday, June 15 in Moorestown. She joined a group of professionals and peers in evaluating five to six student presentations, providing feedback to the students on their communication skills and to the school on its goal of preparing its students to be global community citizens.

According to the school committee, each year eighth grade students at William Allen Middle School are divided into groups and tasked with creating a unique Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with a mission statement, target country or region and awareness campaign to gain funding from potential investors. It must also meet one of the specific United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The judges’ evaluations are used to adjust the WAMS curriculum and encourage students to be innovative and practical problem solvers, effective communicators, proficient researchers, self-directed learners and collaborative team members.

Karpousis has specialized in the practice of Family Law since 1992. Over the years, she has earned a reputation for providing caring yet aggressive representation with a diverse clientele including small business owners, licensed professionals, W-2 wage earners and dependent spouses. Karpousis focuses on the resolution or litigation of divorce, custody issues, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, adoption, relocation and applications to the court for protection from domestic violence and abuse. An active member of several professional and pro bono associations, Karpousis is a regular volunteer for programs and services that support the community as a whole.
