Fall events in Moorestown

School is starting, the summer is ending and the fall will shortly follow. There is no better way to start the fall season than marking your calendar with all of the upcoming fallĀ events.

Enjoy a taste of Germany during Oktoberfest on Saturday Oct. 6. Live music, German style food, craft beers and Rhine wine are merged together to kick of the month ofĀ October.

Donā€™t forget about the Autumn in Moorestown Festival on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Moorestown Business Association (MBA) hosts the festival brining arts and crafts, antique and classic cars, pumpkin painting and more to Main Street. The Lakes Corvette Club will also be at the festival showing off both antique and classic cars owned by the clubĀ members.

Dance classes

Preschool ballet classes for children ages three and four will be held every Saturday form Sept. 8 to Oct. 27 on the third floor of the recreation Center from 9 to 9:45Ā a.m.

Creative ballet lesson for children ages 5 and 6 are every Saturday from Sept. 8 to Oct. 27 on the third floor of the recreation center from 10 to 10:45Ā a.m.

Get you jig on in the Irish Step dancing class for ages 6 and older. The class is also held on the third floor of the recreation center on Mondays starting at 4:15 p.m. Irish step dancing is broken into four different level groups. Beginners class is 4:15 to 5 p.m., advance beginners class is from 5 to 6 p.m., the novice and adult class is 6 to 7 p.m. and the advanced class is from 7 to 8 p.m. Beginner classes start on Sept. 17 and the other levels begin on Sept.Ā 10.

If the Irish jig is not your style, sign up for hip-hop classes instead. Hip-hop classes for ages 8 to 16 will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday from Sept. 18 to Nov.Ā 6.

Tap classes are also offered every Tuesday from Sept. 18 to Nov. 6 from 8 to 9 p.m. Children ages 8 to 16 are welcome toĀ attend.

All classes are on the third floor of the Church Street Recreation center. Registration for all of the dance classes is $75 for residents and $85 for non-residents.

Sports activities

Start teaching your children about fitness at a young age by sending the to Tumblinā€™ Tots for children ages 18 months to four. The program is designed to make fitness fun for the kids. The classes are every Tuesday from Sept. 20 to Dec.Ā 13.

Children from ages 18 months to two will have a ā€˜mommy and meā€™ session from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Registration for this age group is $50 for residents and $60 for non-residents.
Children from ages two to four will have class from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Registration is $60 for residents and $70 for nonresidents.

Parents are asked to bring a birth certificate with them. The classes will be at the Church Street Recreation Center gymnasium. A parent or guardian must stay with the children at allĀ times.

Field Hockey

There are plenty of options for young girls who are interested in playing fieldĀ hockey.

There is a field hockey league for girls in grades first to fourth. Games are on Sundays from Sept. 11 to Nov.Ā 4.

The girls will be split into two groups by grade level, but both groups will play at the same time. The first group is from girls who are in first and second grade and the remaining grades make up the second group. All games are played from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Wesley Bishop Park on North ChurchĀ Street.

Registration is $35 for residents and $45 for nonresidents.

The field hockey intermural recreation league is for girls in grades fifth and sixth. Games will be held on Sundays from Sept. 16 to Nov. 4. The games will be played at the Wesley Bishop Park on North Church Street from 2 to 3 p.m. Registration is $35 for residents and $45 for nonresidents.

A limited travel team is also offered for girls in grades fifth and sixth, as well as girls in seventh and eighthĀ grades.

Games will be played on Sundays. The team will play in the Pinelands Field Hockey League and the games locations will vary from week toĀ week.

Practices for the fifth and sixth grade group will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 to 5 p.m. at Wesley Bishop Park North starting on Sept. 16 to Nov.Ā 18.

Registration for the fifth and sixth grade limited travel team is $110 for residents and $120 for nonresidents.

Registration for the seventh and eighth grade limited travel team is $60 for residents and $70 for nonresidents

Soccer

An all-new soccer clinic is in town. Children from grades kindergarten to eight grades can participate in the recreation soccer clinic every Tuesday from Sept. 11 to Oct. 30 at Jeff YoungĀ Park.

Grade kindergarten to first will play from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and grades second to eight will play 4:30 to 5:45Ā p.m.

Kindergarten soccer for boys and kindergarten soccer for girls will be held from Sept. 22 to Oct. 27 at Wesley Bishop Park North. The boys and girls teams are separate, but both teams meet from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. or 2 to 3Ā p.m.

Registration fee is $34 for residents and $45 for nonresidents.

Boys novice league and girls novice league are for children who are in first and second grade. Games are every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Jeff Young Park from Sept. 22 to Nov. 10. Game schedules will change weekly. Registration for both activities is $35 for residents and $45 for nonresidents.

Boys and girls soccer leagues from third grade to fifth grade will play at the Wesley Bishop Fields on North Church Street from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The game schedules rotate weekly. The program runs from Sept. 22 and Nov.Ā 10.

The boys and girls sixth to eighth grade soccer leagues will play from Sept. 22 to Nov. 10 at the William Allen MiddleĀ School.

Registration for residents is $35 and for nonresidents isĀ $45.

Other activities

Arts and craft for children in grade kindergarten to fourth grade have two sessions filled with crafty activities.

Session one is from Sept. 15 to Oct. 20 and session two is from Nov. 3 to Dec. 15 at the New Albany Road Recreation center.

Children kindergarten and first grade will start crafts at 10 a.m., children in second to fourth grade will start at 11 a.m. and crafts for special needs children will start at 12Ā p.m.

Registration is $40 for residents and $50 for nonresidents.

Receive your CPR certification by attending a CPR class on Monday Sept. 24 or Oct.22 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the New Albany Road Recreation Center. The registration for residents is $25 and for nonresidents is $35. The workbook is an additional $12 or it can be borrowed from the Department of Parks and Recreation. Those who complete the course will receive a certification card valid for twoĀ years.

Menā€™s basketball will be held Mondays at the Isenberg Gym in Moorestown High School from 7 to 9 p.m. On Wednesdays basketball clinics will be held at the Church Street Recreation Center from 7:30 to 9:30Ā p.m.

Monday classes are from Sept. 17 to Nov. 19 and Wednesday classes are from Sept. 19 to Nov.Ā 21.

The registration fee for residents is $50 per 10-week session and for nonresidents is $60 per 10-weekĀ session.

Adult coed soccer is an 8-week informal soccer program for a 35 and up age group. Games are on Tuesdays at Wesley Bishop Park North from 8:45 to 10:30 p.m. Two sessions are available. Session one started on Aug. 7 and will end on Sept. 25. Session two is from Oct. 2 to Nov.Ā 20.

The registration fee for residents is $25 and $35 for nonresidents.
