Correction — Brett Eiffes is playing the character June
Moorestown Friends School (MFS) will present “Gypsy” in the school auditorium on Friday, Nov. 16, and Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. The final dress rehearsal will be open to the public on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. Admission for the dress rehearsal is free.
“Gypsy” is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous striptease artist, and focuses on her mother, Rose, whose name has become synonymous with “the ultimate show business mother.” It follows the dreams and efforts of Rose trying to raise two daughters to perform onstage, and casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of show business life. The character of Louise is based on Lee, and the character of June is based on Lee’s sister, the actress June Havoc.
In lead roles are Larissa Morgan as Louise, Emiko Borne as Mama Rose, Brett Eiffes June, Spencer Bard as Herbie and Austin Harris as Tulsa.
The Upper School drama teacher, Mark Gornto, is the director of the MFS production.
Tickets for the Friday and Saturday productions may be purchased in person at the Stokes Hall reception desk. All seats are reserved. No refunds or exchanges. Tickets are sold first come, first served. Adults and seniors are $12, while students and children are $10.
