BCC housing options broaden for students

Housing options for Burlington County College students have broadened and given them an opportunity for independence within close proximity to their classes.

BCC’s new off-campus housing service can connect local landlords and BCC students looking for rental units, making it the first community college in New Jersey to partner with Places4Students.com.

Local landlords can post listings online now. This service will provide a list of rentals available in Burlington County

that are convenient for BCC students.

All student services are free for students; including listing searches, student sublet postings and roommate profiles. Landlords who advertise between now and Feb. 28 will benefit from free property listings as well, with no future obligations.

“Although Burlington County College is a community college, it is not entirely a commuter college,” BCC Vice President of Student Success, Dr. Terrence Hardee, said “Burlington County College’s reputation attracts students from 16 different states and 52 nations across the globe. Places4Students will make it easier for them to locate places to live, while advancing their education in Burlington County.”

More than 14 percent of BCC students from the fall 2012 semester lived in a rental unit. This semester, nearly 170 students from more than 50 different countries attend BCC, as well as nearly 120 out-of-state students.

“We’re helping students find a home, away from home” Mark Taylor, director of Accounts for Places4Students.com, said.

“Burlington County College’s partnership with Places4Students fills a void in our community to provide a direct connection between students who need a place to live and landlords who have rooms to rent,” Hardee said “This is a win-win situation benefitting students and the community.”

Places4Students.com has been in operation since 2003, and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month. It has partnered with more than 100 college and university campuses throughout North America and helped more than 67,500 landlords and property management companies rent to students effectively to-date.For more information, visit www.bcc.edu/places4students or contact Places4Students at [email protected] or (866) 766–0767.
