Moorestown Friends School won their fourth straight Burlington County Consumer Bowl title on Feb.20. The Consumer Bowl was held at the McDaniel Learning Center, located at Burlington County College. MFS narrowly defeated Rancocas Valley in theĀ final.
āThis competition is an excellent opportunity for Burlington County students to become better consumers and to demonstrate their knowledge on a wide variety of topics,ā said Freeholder Director Leah Arter, āAll of the students participating displayed impressive levels of hard work and dedication, and should be commended for their efforts.ā
Moorestown Friends won the final after amassing 125 points, just ahead of Rancocas Valleyās 100 points. Pemberton finished third, having advanced to the finals by defeating Shawnee and Burlington City in the firstĀ round.
Moorestown Friends had qualified for the finals with a first round victory over Burlington Township and Cherokee HighĀ School.
Burlington County, with ten schools, had more schools compete in the Consumer Bowl than any other county in the state. Moorestown Friends now becomes the second school to win at least four consecutive Burlington County Consumer Bowl titles. Pemberton High School, who won five consecutive titles between 2002 and 2006, was the only other school to reach thatĀ mark.
Moorestown Friends will now advance to the South Jersey regional competition, scheduled for April 11 at Burlington County College in Pemberton. There, MFS will seek its fourth consecutive South Jersey title, along with its fourth consecutive advancement to the stateĀ finals.
The Moorestown Friends team is captained by Kirsten Mullen. The other members of the team are Katherine Thai, Roy Thorstensen, Brett Barbin and Joshua Murdy, with Dr. Barbara Kreider serving as the facultyĀ advisor.
