The Department of Parks & Rec Column

As spring approaches and everything turns new, the Department of Parks & Recreation is pleased to be a part of the new Moorestown Township website rollout. This month, the new website will offer residents better access to pertinent information and all things recreation. As one navigates the new site one will find information laid out in easy to find categories. Information about government services, township committees and department activities will all be found on this website. Parks & Recreation is pleased to be a part of this new rollout.

To locate information about the Department of Parks & Recreation one can find the department listed under the Government tab or the Community tab. Either main tab will lead you to the Department of Parks & Recreation page within the site. The department page will offer visitors a complete overview of recreation programs listed by season. Each season will provide a drop down menu that separates activities into youth, teen, adult, special needs and other specific categories. Programs will be easy to find and events easier to register for. Registration will be as easy as the click of a mouse — simply locate the program for which you wish to register and click on the link and it will automatically take you to the registration site.

Additionally, the Recreation Department provides a listing of Youth and Athletic Clubs that offer local youth additional opportunities. Although the department offers a wide variety of sports programs and recreational outlets, it also partners with the many private clubs and organizations that specialize in particular sports. Partnerships are essential to providing residents with a wide variety of activities in varying degrees of interest and ability.

This new webpage will provide a current schedule for the Recreation Center and Open Gym program. Recreation parks, facilities and fields will also be listed by site to provide a comprehensive view of recreational activities available to Moorestown residents. Moorestown boasts more than 100 acres of parks, recreational field facilities and open spaces that promote recreation and physical activity.

Registration for all programs will be as easy as the click of your mouse! Simply visit the new township site at www.mooreston.nj.us and under the Government tab select “Parks & Recreation”, or under Community tab select “Parks & Facilities.” From there you can find the program for which you want to register and follow the registration link to www.moorestownrec.com. For more information also visit the Parks & Recreation Facebook page to stay up to date with new programs, registration dates and weather related cancellations or changes.
