The Burlington Township Annual Holiday Craft Show will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On Saturday, Nov. 19, the Burlington Township community can come together to enjoy entertainment and buy holiday gifts for their friends and family, all while supporting local businesses.
The Burlington Township Annual Holiday Craft Show, previously known as the Burlington Township Annual Holiday Bazaar, will be held at Burlington Township Middle School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The show has been a tradition in the community for more than 20 years.
The show is designed to provide local crafters, artists and community members the opportunity to promote their handiwork in a community setting. In addition to crafters, the event will also feature various community groups, bake sales, refreshments, basket raffles and spiritwear sales.
While table registration is closed, all community members are welcome to attend to shop and enjoy entertainment. Admission is free.
Burlington Township’s award-winning middle school chorus and high school jazz band will be entertaining guests throughout the day. The American Ninja Warrior Gym will be holding a hula hooping presentation and class to entertain as well.
Event Coordinator Debbie Potucek says the craft show is held in a school setting to encourage children to explore art and crafts. While adults shop for gifts, there will be plenty of activities to entertain kids of all ages.
“Some groups have crafts for children to do that are at no cost to keep the children occupied while the adults shop,” Potucek said.
In addition to the no-cost activities, there will also be crafts kids can do for a fee that ranges from $5 to $15. These more advanced crafts also make great gifts for kids to give to friends and family.
The event will also feature local Girl Scout troops, face painting, church groups, lunch sales, the local Movement Lab and much more. There are more than 80 tables registered for the event, with at least 60 of those tables being crafters. Registration for the event was limited so there would not be excessive supply of one item, so shoppers will have a variety. This was also done to avoid excessive competition and give all participating crafters an opportunity to promote their work.
Potucek has been in charge of organizing the event for three years and is striving to make it more unique than it has been before. She has brought in new vendors such as woodworkers and stained glass artists, while keep old favorites such as crocheters. Potucek boasts the event is a great way for families to have a fun Saturday supporting local businesses without the use of electronics.
The event is held and organized by the Burlington Township Foundation, the nonprofit corporation that helps raise funds to supplement education, special education, athletics and the arts.
“Our primary focus is to raise funds to help support the students of Burlington Township,” said Greg Komiskey, Burlington Township Foundation gaming treasurer.
The foundation is made up of volunteers, namely parents of students in the school district. The Burlington Township Annual Holiday Craft Show will benefit the Burlington Township Schools Scholarship Committee, a subcommittee of the Burlington Township Foundation.
The scholarship committee works year-round to raise funds to provide scholarships to graduating seniors. All proceeds from table registrations will go to the committee. The foundation also requested each registered artist and crafter donate one item to be auctioned off in support of the foundation.
The craft show is a one-stop shop to get all holiday gift shopping done well before the holidays.
“This is where we encourage people to do all of their holiday shopping,” Potucek said. “We have a gentleman who creates cork ornaments from used wine bottles. We have a young lady who has written a book, ‘“Puppies on Wheels’ — she will be coming. There is something for everyone at this show.”
