The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. Sunday Dec. 11 in the sanctuary in the first Presbyterian Church.
Always the most popular concert in the West Jersey Chamber Music Society’s calendar is the annual Christmas concert — in which the audience participates. The West Jersey Chamber Choir, under the direction of Joel Krott, will lead the community in celebrating peace and good will for everyone with traditional carols.
This year’s concert on Sunday, Dec. 11 celebrates Christmas in the traditional English way, with Christmas carols and remembering the true spirit of the season — the birth of Jesus Christ two millenia ago and today’s love of family, friends and communities. The setting of celebratory song has attracted some of England’s finest composers. Our program includes Gustav Holst (famous for The Planets), David Willcocks, John Ireland and Alan Bullard.
The Chamber Choir will perform other works by Archer, Bainton, Rutter and Stainer before inviting the audience to join in singing traditional carols.
For 37 years the West Jersey Chamber Music Society’s symphony and choir have been bringing high-quality, professional classical music to audiences in southern New Jersey. It aims to nurture an audience of music lovers and enhance the quality of life through the inspiring power of music.
