All Burlington Township, only Burlington Township
Welcome to your new hometown news source. And when I say “your” news source, I mean it.
Inside The Burlington Township Sun’s print edition and on its website, you will find, to a great degree, what you want to read about. We will cover the basics — government, the schools, etc. — but, throughout our history, we’ve found that giving our readers the opportunity to shape the content works well for all.
What you won’t find is national and international news that is already available elsewhere, or news from surrounding towns. The Burlington Township Sun is all about Burlington Township, and only Burlington Township.
The Sun is published by Newspaper Media Group. The Sun Newspapers began when we launched The Haddonfield Sun, a free community newspaper, in August 2004.
Since then, we have added newspapers and websites in Moorestown, Cherry Hill, Voorhees, Medford, Marlton, Mt. Laurel, Shamong and Tabernacle. This week, in addition to Burlington Township, we are also starting newspapers and websites in Palmyra, Cinnaminson, Berlin and Sicklerville.
There’s another story posted about how you can submit articles, letters, photos and the like for publication. Here, though, I’d like to explain a bit about our philosophy and what kinds of submissions we really appreciate.
Our goal has always been to not only cover the traditional news, but to also allow communities to celebrate their individual and collective achievements.
That’s why, inside of our newspapers and on our websites, you’ll read stories about students collecting items for the needy, local businesspeople who have achieved recognition and more. The news, as we all know, isn’t always good. But when someone does something special, he or she deserves time in the spotlight.
You’ll see letters to the editor, calendar listings, obituaries and other regular items. In general, what we publish is what you tell us to publish and/or send us to publish.
Associate editor Emily Keifline is leading our coverage efforts in Burlington Township and is the person to contact with story ideas, questions or suggestions.
She can be reached at (856) 469–4965. Or, an e-mail to [email protected] will get the job done, too.
Over time, we’ll (hopefully) do most things right, but occasionally make mistakes or miss a story. When that happens, feel free to contact either Emily or me.
We know we can’t make everyone happy all of the time, but we will remain true to our commitment to having our readers shape their news source.
I hope that you enjoy The Sun and take an active role in helping us publish the important news about the people, places and events that make Burlington Township a special place to live.
Working together, we’ll have a news source that is true to the culture and spirit of this community.
Tim Ronaldson is executive editor of The Sun. He can be reached at [email protected] or (856) 528–4993.
