Making Moorestown beautiful: MHS student spends spring break weeding, planting flowers

When Joe DiMarino started his own business at the age of 12, he was just trying to earn some extra cash. Now a junior at Moorestown High School, DiMarino has found a true passion in landscaping and entrepreneurship.

DiMarino spent his spring break cleaning up Collin’s Park boulevard, an area of land near his home he says needed a lot of work. DeMarino recruited a handful of friends and completed the project in two days.

Sky sight: “Art for the Sky” artist visits Moorestown Upper Elementary School

Daniel Dancer’s “Art for the Sky” is about more than just creating an image. It’s about bonding, creating memories that last a lifetime and teaching students to see the big picture.

Dancer has traveled to schools in 42 states and eight countries over the past 17 years to create sky art with the help of students and staff, and last week, he visited Moorestown Upper Elementary School for the second time.

Moorestown BOE considers new trips abroad organization

At the monthly meeting on May 16, the Board of Education heard a presentation from Peter Adams of WorldStrides. This organization offers educational trips abroad for about 85 school districts in New Jersey. The board is expected to vote on this program in June with the possibility for school trips as early as spring break 2018.

Parks and Recreation department preparing for summer

This summer will boast a series of new camps for in the “Triple A line up” from the Moorestown Department of Parks and Recreation — Arts, Athletics and Activities. This summer, the department is preparing for a full complement of offerings. Beginning in June and running through the end of August, Moorestown youth will have their choice of athletics and activities to choose from.
