Officers were told by the clerk that a male had pointed a silver handgun at her and demanded the money from the register.
On Tuesday, June 13, the Moorestown Police responded to a 911 call at 9:02 p.m. reporting an armed robbery followed minutes later by a silent alarm from the Wawa located at 236 W. Main St.
Officers arriving on location were told by the clerk that a male wearing a gray shirt and khaki pants had pointed a silver handgun at her and demanded the money from the register. The suspect took more than $100 and left on foot on Main St. westbound towards Union St. The clerk was not injured.
Officers were able to identify the suspect and the 60-year-old man of the 300 block of W. Second St., Moorestown was taken into custody by officers at his residence without incident at approx. 12:30 a.m. The suspect is charged with robbery, theft, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. He was wanted on a warrant issued by Moorestown Municipal Court for failure to appear on a motor vehicle summons. He was lodged at the Burlington County Jail.
