Sandra Alberti elected Moorestown BOE president
Moorestown’s Board of Education convened in the district’s Administration Building on Thursday, July 20 to elect its new president. After more than two hours spent in executive session, the board elected Sandra Alberti to the position. Alberti was the sole nomination at Thursday’s meeting. The motion carried via a vote of 6–2, with Brandon Pugh and Peter Palko voting “no” and the remainder of the board voting in favor of Alberti. The election follows board President Kathy Goldenberg’s resignation at the June 20 Board of Education meeting. Goldenberg left to serve on the State Board of Education, which does not allow for local board of education service.
Softball sister hit hard, run fast
The Marta sisters couldn’t be more different when it comes to softball. When it comes to their strengths where one excels, the other struggles. Despite their different skill sets, both Moorestown girls flourish while playing the game, which has earned the Marta sisters a coveted place on NorthEast American teams at the USSSA Futures All-American Games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. The girls will compete in the national competition from July 30 to Aug. 5. The games divide the country into eight regions with the top 26 players from each region competing against the best from other areas of the country.
Burlington trial court administrator receives national award
Jude Del Preore, trial court administrator for the Burlington Vicinage, received the 2017 Award of Merit from the National Association for Court Management (NACM) at the organization’s annual conference in Washington, D.C. on July 11. Del Preore resides in Moorestown with his wife Penny. NACM’s most prestigious individual award is presented annually to recognize distinguished service and outstanding contributions to the profession of court administration. Award recipients demonstrate leadership and excellence in the advancement of the ideals and principles of modern judicial management and professional court administration.
