Marie passed away on Saturday, Sept. 9 at the age of 78.
Marie Dolores Mattern (nee Borawski), of Moorestown, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 9 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous and dignified battle with cancer. She was 78 years old.
Marie was born in Philadelphia and had been a resident of Moorestown for the last 50 years. For more than 25 years, she worked as the Secretary for the Township Manager of Moorestown before her retirement in 2012.
Marie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She instilled in her children a love of life and an appreciation for all that life has to offer and especially loved quality time with all of her grandchildren. A woman with a kind demeanor and infectious smile, she will be missed by all who knew her. Marie was an avid reader and enjoyed excursions to Atlantic City and making favorite desserts for family gatherings.
Marie is predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony Matter, Jr. and her brothers, Stanley and Raymond Borawski. Surviving are her daughters, Audrey Bauer (Ray) and Jacqueline Fuchs (Adam); sister Rosalie McCormick; grandchildren Joseph Harrison Davis, Jr. (Jay), Benjamin James Davis, Olivia Marie Bauer, Raymond John Bauer, Katherine Justine Bauer and Aidan Joseph Fuchs and great-grandchild Joseph Anthony Davis.
A visitation and memorial service were held on Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals.
