Students will put a modern twist on a timeless classic
This year, the students of Shawnee High School are proud to present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic, golden age musical “Cinderella”. The beauty and elegance of Richard Rodgers’ artistic score combine with Oscar Hammerstein’s witty but, brilliant script to create a timeless story of courage, kindness, and love. In this modern adaptation, the character of “Cinderella” becomes the hero, not only rescuing her prince, but his entire kingdom from a life of poverty and disenchantment.
The musical will take place at the Shawnee Auditorium on Friday, Feb. 23, Feb. 24, March 2 and March 3 at 7 p.m. Two additional performances will take place on Feb. 24 and March 3 at 2 p.m. Tickets, available for purchase at the door or in advance at the Shawnee Auditorium, are $13 for adults and $10 for students and children. Gold passes are accepted. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at the Shawnee Auditorium on Saturday, Feb.17, from 8 until 10 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are also available on Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 3 until 6 p.m. and on Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 3 until 6 p.m.
