Feeding 5,000: From Medford to Philadelphia

Every day, thousands of people right across the bridge in Philadelphia go hungry and live without a place to call home. A local organization and a member of the Medford-Vincentown Rotary are doing something about it.

Medford-Vincentown Rotary member recently Chris Stokes presented a check to the Medford-based humanitarian organization Feeding 5000. The donation was meant to help expand their capabilities to bring hot meals to the homeless.

Feeding 5000 is an outreach ministry that aims to feed and help the hungry and the homeless on the streets of Philadelphia.

The ministry meets every Saturday at 9 a.m. at Fellowship Alliance Chapel’s Red Barn in Medford.

There, they make sandwiches, prepare bags, and sort and pack clothing. Then, the group leaves around 10:15 a.m. to deliver the meals, clothing, blankets along with bibles, love, compassion, friendship, and prayers before returning around 2 p.m.

In addition, the group also recently started a program to visit Love Park in Philadelphia one Sunday a month to deliver hot meals to the hungry and homeless.
