Still time to enter 9/11 poetry contest

As plans for Medford Township’s 9/11 memorial observance are being finalized, the public is invited to share their remembrances and reflections of the events of 9/11 in poetry. Several poems will be included in the township’s observance scheduled for Sunday, September 11, 2011, beginning at 4 p.m. in Freedom Park with the winning poets as the readers.

There are no residency restrictions for entering poets but they must be at least 18 years of age. Any form of poetry is acceptable. All submitted work must be original, the work of the poet entering the contest and not previously published.

An entry form must accompany all entries. There is no fee for entry.

All entries should be sent by Friday, July 15, 2011.

Contest guidelines and application are available online on these Web sites: Medford Arts Center (MAC) www.ArtsinMedford.org or Medford Township Recreation Department www.medfordrec.com .

They may also be picked up at the Medford Township Recreation Department (2nd floor), 17 North Main Street in Medford during regularly scheduled hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) or at the MAC, 18 North Main Street during weekend gallery hours (see Web site).

Questions may be directed to the MAC Literary Arts Coordinator, Elsa Williams at 609–953–0805, by e-mail [email protected] or left on the MAC message center at 609–654–6033.
