LETTER: Resident disagrees with letter about school ratings

In response to a letter regarding Medford schools in the May 1–7 issue of The Sun, which implied that Medford schools do not have good ratings and “aren’t even listed with any ranking as a result of the legitimate process of how the schools are ranked”:
The Great Schools non-profit organization (greatschools.org) is a highly regarded national school ranking system, which uses “the most recent available standardized test results for schools in each state.”

On the Great Schools ranking, all Medford (and Medford Lakes) schools, including Shawnee, are ranked between an eight and a 10 in a one to 10 rating system, with 10 being the highest possible rating.

I am not a fan of high taxes but Medford does have great schools, public and private.
