Shawnee class of 2015 salutatorian

On Thursday June 18, Shawnee High School held its commencement graduation ceremony as the 2014–2015 school year came to an end.

The class of 2015 went out in style, as the students received their diplomas and were addressed by their class valedictorian and salutatorian before they were sent off to pursue the next chapter of their lives.

The Sun sat down with Gabriel Eiseman, the salutatorian of this year’s graduating class.

Here is a closer look at our interview with a top academic member of the Shawnee class of 2015.

The Sun: What college do you plan to attend in the fall?

Eiseman: Rutgers New Brunswick Honors College.

The Sun: How did you decide on this school?

Eiseman: I have a full scholarship, and Rutgers ranks well in computer science, math and physics.

The Sun: What major do you plan to pursue there?

Eiseman: Computer science

The Sun: Any idea what you want to do with that degree yet?

Eiseman: Currently, I’m working on applied mathematics and computer languages mostly, but I’m not positive what I want to do after college.

The Sun: What is the topic of your speech that you will be giving to the class at graduation?

Eiseman: Work hard and take risks to satisfy yourself.

The Sun: What is the reason you chose this topic?

Eiseman: I think it is important.

The Sun: What does it mean to you to achieve an accomplishment like this?

Eiseman: I get to give a speech.

The Sun: Do you have a favorite memory or favorite class from high school?

Eiseman: My AP Latin 4 family. We survived some hard times, including the AP Exam, together. Also, the teacher Ms. Katrisiosis is one of the most interesting, kind and intelligent people I’ve ever met. She really enjoys Latin but also is very down to Earth, and we talked about other things as well, especially once all of the work was done.
