Bernie Sanders and Trump will eventually flame out. That, at least, is the expectation. With 30% and 25%, respectively, of the democratic and republican vote, they are already at their peak.

When we get down to the nitty-gritty of how to implement their lofty dreams and overblown promises, the party will be over.

The interesting question then becomes how many of Sanders’ enthusiastic supporters will show up on Election Day and vote for Hillary?

The answer is likely “a lot” but probably not enough for her to win. In survey, after survey, 70% of the electorate has said that they want the next president to follow a different path than the one Obama has pursued. On policy matters, Hillary is seen as Obama’s clone.

I believe the drop off in total republican votes will be far less in Trump’s case. The reason being that when Trump is “over and out”, the electorate has a choice of several candidates.

Unless Biden, or others jump in, democrats will be left with only one choice, Hillary.
