The Medford Township Clean Communities Program invites all local residents and community groups to participate in its fourth annual town wide Yard Sale and Community Appreciation Day to be held Saturday, April 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Freedom Park, located at 86 Union Street.
There is no cost to participate in the yard sale, but items offered for sale should be “pre-loved”, created from repurposed materials, or be plants. All sales and proceeds go to the participating individual or community group. Participants must provide their own table(s) and chairs for an approximate 10' x 10' location. Pre-registration is requested by April 22 to [email protected].
In appreciation of the many community and civic groups who perform neighborhood and park clean-ups throughout the year, township and Clean Communities officials are hosting a community appreciation celebration to recognize the efforts of these groups in keeping Medford free of litter and trash. There will be free youth games and activities, refreshments, and recycling giveaways. The township’s Environmental Affairs Advisory Committee will also be distributing free trees provided by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection under their tree recovery program.
In addition, the Woman’s Club of Medford, working along with students from Shawnee High School, will be conducting their annual spring cleanup in Freedom Park, working on the veteran’s memorials and other landscaping in the park.
Goodwill industries of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia will be on-site to collect donations during the event, and will also be available to leave any unsold items at the conclusion of the yard sale. Goodwill will also collect TV’s and computers which they recycle as a component of their job-training initiatives.
A shredder truck will also be in Freedom Park from 7:30 a.m. until 12 noon for residents to dispose of personal files and papers. There is a limit of 10 boxes or bags of files per resident, and this service is also free for residents but not for businesses.
If any community group wishes to participate in a neighborhood, roadside, or park cleanup, please contact Judy Scherf, Medford’s Clean Communities Coordinator, at (609) 654–6791 x322. The Township can provide bags, litter grabbers, gloves, safety vests, etc. and other resources.
Plan to celebrate spring and Earth Day at this wonderful community event.
