A male had made threats to harm himself and was suspected to be under the influence of illicit drugs before he was arrested.
The following information comes from the Berlin Police Department:
On Saturday, Feb. 25, Berlin Police units were dispatched to Glacier Drive for a domestic dispute. Once police units were on location, they learned that the male inside the residence had made threats to harm himself and was suspected to be under the influence of illicit drugs. Also in the residence was a juvenile male. The male refused to cooperate and would not exit the locked residence nor let the juvenile exit. It was decided that the Lower Camden County Regional-Special Response Team (LCCR-SRT) as well as negotiators would be activated.
Once all resources were in place, negotiations were attempted. Local residents within the development were notified of a shelter in place and residents adjoining the target home were evacuated. At 12:52 p.m. all individuals in the home peacefully exited the residence without incident. The male was taken into custody and transported to a local crisis center for evaluation. Charges are pending.
