Schneider was drafted by the Blue Jays in the draft’s 28th round.
Eastern Regional High School senior Davis Schneider was selected in the 28th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday afternoon.
The Toronto Blue Jays selected Schneider with the 849th pick of the draft. The pick came in just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
A Rutgers University commit, Schneider was one of Eastern’s leading hitters during the 2017 season. He set the school record for career hits in mid-May and finished the season with a .445 batting average, five home runs and 40 runs batted in. Prior to the start of the season, Schneider was named to Rawlings Perfect Game’s Northeast Region All-High School Senior first team.
