On Monday, Jan. 9, Eastampton Township appointed Tom Czerniecki to serve as its next township manager filling a vacancy created in the fall of 2011. Tom is a resident of Eastampton Township and previously held the manager’s position there from 1999–2004. He has been the Evesham Township Manager since June 2007.
Mayor Randy Brown said, “On behalf of the council and the community, I offer Tom my sincerest wishes for continued success in his career and my heartfelt appreciation for his service to Evesham. He did an outstanding job for us and I understand and respect his desire to take his career in a new direction. On a personal level, Tom is a friend and although I will miss our regular collaboration I know this move makes sense for him and his family.”
Tom Czerniecki said, “Through the leadership of Mayor Brown, current and former council members, and a top notch senior management team, I believe Evesham Township has emerged as a premier municipal organization in the state of New Jersey. I could not have asked for a better professional experience.” Czerniecki added, “However, as an Eastampton resident, I know the opportunity to work for my home town may not come around again for a while and I owed it to my family to seriously explore this possibility. I now look forward to putting my experience and training to use in the service of Eastampton.”
Mayor Randy Brown added, “When I was elected in the spring of 2007, council’s first order of business was to fill a vacancy in the township manager’s office. At that time, the township was faced with a projected $5 million budget deficit going into 2008, significant concerns over the impending $50 million dollar Marlton Circle elimination project, a pending real estate property reassessment in the midst of the greatest real estate market downturn in over a generation, a municipal organization in need of managerial updating, and a desire on the part of council to improve recreational facilities, programs, and senior services to name just a few priorities. Tom’s skill as a public administrator allowed council to focus on these important policy decisions knowing our decisions would be implemented in a professional and efficient manner.
Deputy Mayor Steve Zeuli said, “It was pleasure to work with Tom. He has a very good grasp on the process of government and service delivery. I am glad Tom is staying in Burlington County and I hope Evesham and Eastampton will be able to explore some shared service opportunities given his knowledge of our capabilities and personnel.”
Mayor Brown said, “Tom’s last day in the Manager’s office will be Feb. 3, at which point William Cromie will take over as acting manager. Bill is a former captain in our police department, a former deputy township manager and current Director of Public Works. We have a very competent management team that will be able to pitch in and assist Bill while council undertakes a search for a new manager.”
