On Jan. 22, at 1:30 p.m., the Evesham Police Department responded to a residence in the unit block of Sycamore Avenue for a report of gunfire.
Responding officers located a male walking on Sycamore Avenue who matched the description given by a witness.
That male advised officers that he had a dispute over money with a male subject at a home in the unit block of Sycamore Avenue.
During the argument, the male displayed a rifle and fired in his direction. The resident continued to point the weapon at the male until he walked off the property.
Evesham Police quickly shut down Sycamore Avenue and established a perimeter around the house.
The suspect, yelled out a first floor window to officers, stating he wasn’t coming out of the house.
At that time, the male was considered an armed barricaded suspect and the New Jersey State Police “TEAMS” Unit was contacted and asked to deploy a SWAT team to the incident location.
Prior to the arrival of the SWAT Team, the suspect agreed to peacefully surrender.
The suspect then exited the home and was taken into custody by Evesham Police. The home was cleared by township police and secured pending application for a search warrant. The area was then reopened to traffic.
Later in the evening, a search warrant was executed at the suspect’s home on Sycamore Avenue.
During the search six guns, ammunition, ballistic vests and narcotics were seized.
The suspect, age 26, of Marlton, was charged with second-degree aggravated assault and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in default of $75,000 full cash bail.
