The Chick-fil-A restaurants of South Jersey teamed up for a day of service and celebration benefiting Operation Yellow Ribbon South Jersey and honoring Martin Luther King Jr. on Sunday, Jan. 17.
The restaurants hosted a care-package packing event as the culmination of their Cookies for Christmas fundraiser, through which they raised a total of $18,871 for Operation Yellow Ribbon.
That total will allow more than 700 care packages — which weigh 25–30 pounds and serve an entire troop or unit — to be shipped overseas.
The care package assembly also included a check presentation to Operation Yellow Ribbon and the event ended with a variety of activities for all volunteers to enjoy. Approximately 60 Chick-fil-A Team Members helped assemble care packages.
In all, the South Jersey Chick-fil-A restaurants packed 1,129 pounds of goods in 41 care packages at the event.
