Weekly Roundup: Fourth of July in Marlton, Operation Yellow Ribbon of South Jersey wins $50,000

Marlton man detained on charges from allegedly shooting at an Evesham Police Officer on May 24

This week the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and Evesham Police Department released information on a Marlton man that was detained on charges of shooting at a township police officer who went to the man’s apartment for a well-being check. At a June 30 detention hearing in Superior Court, Jeffrey R. Wass, 54, of the Niew Amsterdam Apartments on North Maple Avenue, was ordered held in the Burlington County Jail.

Evesham celebrates Fourth of July holiday

This week Evesham Township joined the rest of the nation in celebrating the Fourth of July holiday. With a 5K, two parades and fireworks, the township’s residents had hours of fun and more than showed their patriotism. Marlton resident Tiffany Savich enjoys job as Phillies ballgirl

At every Philadelphia Phillies home game, two ballgirls sit along each foul line. Numerous times during the game, a foul ball will be hit toward the stands, necessitating the ballgirl to retrieve the ball and hand it off to a fan sitting nearby. One member of the 2017 Phillies ballgirl team happens to be Tiffany Savich of Marlton.

Operation Yellow Ribbon of South Jersey wins $50,000 in Wawa Foundation Hero Award contest

Throughout the year the members of Operation Yellow Ribbon of South Jersey hold fundraisers and collect donations to send care packages to the men and women of the U.S. military serving overseas. This year on the Fourth of July OYRSJ was honored for its work as the winner of the Wawa Foundation Hero Award contest and a donation of $50,000.

Former Cherokee baseball star hired as new head coach at Rowan College at Burlington County

Marlton native Mike Scanzano will be in charge of a college program for the first time next spring as he has been hired as the new head baseball coach at Rowan College at Burlington County. Scanzano was a four-time all-Olympic Conference player for Cherokee High School in the late 1990s, played in college and professional baseball, held roles as a high school and college assistant coach and generally gathered years of experience on the baseball field.

Evesham Police ask public for information on male suspected of alleged lewdness

On June 29, at approximately 1:20 p.m., Evesham Police say the male depicted in the composite sketch above was allegedly observed masturbating on a walking path between the Lake Executive Campus (401 N. Route 73) and North Cropwell Road in Marlton, by a female who was walking in the area on her lunch break. Click here to read more about the incident.
