Marlton girl ambassador for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Parkway Run & Walk on Sept. 24
Earlier this spring, Marlton’s 2-year-old Arianna Lewis returned from 409 days at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she battled Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia, a rare form of blood cancer. During her time at CHOP, Arianna made such an impression that a committee at the hospital selected Arianna as one of 11 children ambassadors for this year’s Parkway Run & Walk in Philadelphia next month. Now Arianna’s family is looking for team members in the event.
Second annual Fallen Heroes Softball Tournament set for Aug. 27 at Diamonds at Arrowhead Park
It was nearly one year ago when eight softball teams comprised of local first responders, teachers, businesses and others joined at The Diamonds at Arrowhead Park for Evesham’s inaugural Fallen Heroes Softball Tournament. Now the tournament is set to return on Aug. 27 with even more teams so locals can once again honor area first responders who’ve lost their lives and support their families through fundraising.

The Evesham Police department will be joining the next ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ crackdown from Aug. 18 through Sept. 4. According to the Evesham Police department, alcohol-impairment is a factor in nearly one-third of all traffic fatalities. In 2015, 10,265 people were killed in crashes involving a alcohol-impaired driver, 29 percent of all fatalities. Of all those killed, 69 percent (6,852) were in crashes in which at least one driver had a BAC of .15 or higher.

At this week’s Evesham Township Council meeting, Councilmember Ken D’Andrea announced the township and Inglis Gardens had been approved for two grants that would pay for a sidewalk to run from the complex down a portion of North Elmwood Road. Residents in the complex have been asking council about the possibility of a sidewalk for years to help them travel from their complex to nearby locations such as St. Isaac Jogues Church or stores at The Village at the Greens shopping center.
Evesham Police arrest man suspected of fleeing scene after alleged shoplifting turned robbery
On Aug. 8, at 9:24 p.m., Evesham Police officers responded to the Kohl’s store located at 301 W Route 70 for an alleged robbery in progress. According to police, store security reported that a male had allegedly shoplifted merchandise and threatened to stab store security with a knife when they confronted him. A description of the male and vehicle he fled in was provided to all responding units.
