The clinic will take place from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and is designed especially for families.

Danzeisen and Quigley sports store, located at 1720 E. Marlton Pike in Cherry Hill, is hosting a family cycling safety class on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. This clinic is being conducted by the New Jersey Bike & Walk Coalition and sponsored by the NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety.

The class is designed to help families enjoy the sport of cycling and to guide parents to create a safe biking experience for their children.

The clinic will start in the classroom with instruction from League of American Bicyclist certified instructors, who will guide you through a safety overview stressing practical tips you can use immediately to make your riding safer.

The class will move out to the parking lot for demonstrations and drills that will give participants bike handling tips for common situation bicyclists encounter –with an emphasis on how to transfer these skills to child bicyclists.

Some of the topics the clinic will cover include:

  • Bicycle rules of the road — Practical tips for safety
  • Where and when to ride — On and off the street
  • NJ Bike Law — or adults and children
  • How to navigate a busy street or intersection with kids in tow
  • Skills you can easily teach your children to make them safer
  • How to be a role model
  • Essential bike maintenance so your children can ride safe

Parents who are currently or who would like to bike with their children (the course assumes your child can ride a bike in a straight line and stop safely, without falling over) are encouraged to attend. Attendees who would like to participate in the parking lot drills should bring a bicycle in good working order and a helmet. The cost of the clinic is $25 and Glenn Page is the instructor.
