While the shopping and the traffic that come with the holiday season can make it a stressful time for some, it’s important to take a few moments to enjoy the sounds, smells and sights that make this a special time of year. There are several fun, family-friendly events scheduled to take place before the New Year that are sure to help residents and families enjoy the holidays.

Cherry Hill’s senior citizens are invited to celebrate the holidays on Sunday, Dec. 6 at the 35th annual Senior Advisory Board Holiday Party. From noon to 4 p.m., guests are invited to partake in a festive afternoon of music, dinner, dancing and prize giveaways. Tickets, for $15 each, are available to Gold Card holders and must be purchased by Tuesday, Dec. 1. From Nov. 18 through Dec. 1, guests can obtain tickets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at town hall, which is located at 820 Mercer St. For more information call the recreation department at 488–7868 or e-mail [email protected].

Guests are invited to the Croft Farm Arts Center to enjoy a luncheon and a movie featuring “Love Actually” on Thursday, Dec. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Through the movie, viewers will follow the lives of eight different couples dealing with their love lives in various interrelated tales that take place the month before Christmas in London. The afternoon will feature a hotdog lunch, followed by the movie and a short discussion. Tickets are $3 each. Several events at the Cherry Hill Library are sure to keep children entertained and engaged throughout the holidays.

Registration is not required for the “Books to Movies Marathon”, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 27. Guests are invited to enjoy four movies that will be playing throughout the day at the library. “The Tale of Despereaux” will play at 10:30 a.m., “Kit Kittredge — An American Girl” will go on at 1 p.m., watch “Coraline” at 3 p.m., and “Inkheart” at 7 p.m.

At The Garden State Discovery Museum, there are plenty of events going on this season to keep kids, and parents, happy.
